Cycling in Moraira and surrounding area

If you’re looking for road or gravel/MTB cycling in stunning mountain and coastal scenery, on quiet roads, with great road surfaces or gravel/MTB tracks in a fantastic climate with over 300 days of sunshine, look no further than Moraira and the surrounding area. The region is established for solo and group cycling so explore the area and why not stop at the unspoilt traditional village bars and restaurants for refreshments and tapas.

The region is often featured in the Vuelta a España and the area is the winter cycling training camp destination of choice for many pro teams. In 2016, ten of the eighteen World Tour teams chose the area for their training camps.

Moraira has a good selection of bike rental companies and bike shops within walking distance both of which can be found online or can be recommended.

Road Cycling

The Costa Blanca and Alicante region is a great place for cycling and is a popular training base for professional cycling teams in the winter. It has a sunny and warm climate throughout the year and has superb mountains for cycling, offering a wide range of climbs of differing lengths and gradients.

The road surfaces are almost good and on many routes you will encounter very little traffic.

The area is favored for cycling training camps by many pro teams with Moriara featuring in La Vuelta more than once. The whole region is well known for excellent cycling.

Cycling in Moraira and surrounding area

Moraira and the surrounding area has an excellent network of gravel/MTB tracks with Benitachell (210 km sign posted) and the Jalón valley (260 km sign posted) offering multiple networks of tracks and paths. The terrain is generally gravel/dirt roads and paths with very few motorised vehicles. The level of cycling can be moderate to difficult with many routes available online.
